Would you like to be a Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society (CNHPS) Volunteer?

Trained CNHPS volunteers help to stimulate connections between seniors and their neighbours and enhance how neighbours help seniors with small acts of compassionate caring. CNHPS volunteers also offer support to the older adult living with chronic illness or frailty and their caregivers;

  • To help them access health and community resources
  • To explore ways to help them re-connect with things that give them pleasure.
  • Explore ways to connect with other older adults.
  • To assist in finding answers to questions that they may have.

Would you like to learn more about the Neighbourhood Activation Project and if volunteering in this project might be something for you? Volunteer workshops will be held:

  1. Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on August 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, and 26th, in the theatre room at the Chartwell Lynnwood Retirement Residence, 9168 Corbould Street, Chilliwack B.C. V2P 8A1
  2. Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on September 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th 23rd, and 25th at the same venue as listed above.
  3. Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on September 9th, 12th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, and 26th at the same venue as listed above.
What are the CNHPS Volunteer Roles?
General Volunteers Assist With:
  • Administration (office and communications).
  • Fund-raising.
  • Marketing and Advertising.
  • Assisting with event planning.
  • Facilitating at the Seniors Connect Café.
  • Assisting with other practical volunteer activities.
Trained Volunteers with a Health Professional Background:
  • Help clients formulate the questions they want to ask their health care provider.
  • Meet and support clients at medical appointments.
  • Support clients at the time of discharge from emergency or the hospital.
  • Assist clients in action planning to carry out the health care instructions given to them.
  • Support clients in navigating the health care system.
  • Explore with clients the health care resources available in their community.
  • Help clients to prepare a record of their medical history to have ready to share with health care providers.
  • Mentor clients in the process of advance care planning.
What is required to become a CNHPS Volunteer?
  1. Complete a volunteer application form (This form will also grant you Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society membership)
  2. Complete a criminal record check (at no cost to the volunteer).
  3. Endorse the CNHPS Society Statement of Values, Beliefs and Code of Conduct.
  4. Complete the CNHPS Oath of Confidentiality.
  5. Complete the interview process.
